International program empowering marginalized farmers
"Sustain. Educate. Transform."
This was initiated last year with the generous support of Fundación Quintana, the first patron of the project. The program was designed to create a positive impact on the lives of marginalized farmers by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and resources to establish self-sustainable beekeeping operations. The success of the program's inaugural year has been so remarkable that Fundación Quintana has committed to sponsoring an additional 14 families in the upcoming year.
Our Approach: Our approach is holistic, addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by marginalized farmers. Here's how we empower them:
1. Comprehensive Support: We provide complete support to participating farmer families, which includes essential beekeeping equipment, protective gear, bee colonies, and in-depth education on beekeeping practices. This comprehensive support sets the foundation for their success.
2. Sustainable Operations: Our aim is to ensure that these farmers can operate their beekeeping ventures independently in the long run. To achieve this, we gather necessary resources and support through donations from individuals and organizations who share our mission.
3. Certification and Fair Trade Promotion: To further enhance the sustainability of their operations, we partner with the laboratory at the Universidad de Antioquia to certify their honey as authentic and high-quality. This certification not only adds value to their products but also assures consumers of the honey's authenticity.
4. Market Access: We connect these marginalized farmers with markets, guaranteeing the purchase of their honey production at fair prices. This promotes fair trade practices and ensures that their efforts are financially rewarding.
